We will meet at GREAT's pole barn, located at 100 Cardinal Crest Rd, where Cardinal Crest intersects with Canary Lane, in Blackman Township a few miles north of the city of Jackson. You can reach the property by taking Lansing Avenue north from Parnall Road for 0.7 miles, turn right on Cardinal Crest (immediately after the Marathon gas station) to its end at Canary Lane. Then turn left onto the gravel drive where you will see the large green pole barn with a red metal roof.

This property consists of over twenty-five acres of wooded land and almost a half-mile of frontage on the Grand River. The process to remove the invasive vegetation is labor intensive. Chain saws and loppers are used by some to cut the woody plants. Others will be hauling these cuttings into piles to naturally decay while providing habitat for birds, mammals, and reptiles. And others will treat the remaining plant stumps with an herbicide to prevent regrowth of the invasive species.

Be sure to dress in warm layers and wear sturdy shoes or boots; the weather during some of our past events have been cold and snowy.

Please RSVP to GREAT by calling (517) 513-7504 and leave a message. (Note that our phone number changed in April 2023.)
