Huron River

We were the guest of the Great Lake Paddlers to paddle this beautiful river on a beautiful fall day. Thirty GREAT paddlers made the trip to Washtenaw County. The river was clear , with a steady current, and some small occasional rapids to make it a very fun trip. During the paddle, we stopped to enjoy a tasty and social cook-out event put on by the GLP.

Originally schedule for the prior weekend, but postponed because of rain, twenty paddlers made the trip. The river was muddy, flowing fast, and exceptionally high from the recent rains which covered many would be obstructions. After the paddle, a cookout was enjoyed at Baldwin Park by the hunger participants.

Portage River Clean-up

A small group of GREAT members and Ingham County Soil and Water Office Employees teamed up to remove trash from the Portage River as part of our Upper Grand River Implementation Project. The lower water levels were a double edge sword as it exposed more trash, but made also made it much more difficult to paddle over the many large dead falls that jammed the river.

Draper Road to Vandercook Lake

A GREAT of record 64 paddlers took to the river on this beautiful day. With lack of rain, the river was on the low side, but paddlers were able to carefully navigate around most low spots. Dahlem members were our guests and most paddlers stayed for the brats and dogs which were grilled at the park and enjoyed some good conversation.

S. Kalamazoo: Homer-Albion

It was a beautiful Day and the recent rains had the river at a nice level and speed for a "GREAT" paddle for the 34 participants. The last boat came in before 4 PM. Notice the trash bag pickup and other items.
